- I heard this story in church today by pastor Tan, and I find it meaning. So I'm gonna share it here.
Star Thrower
There was once a boy who lives by the beach. Everytime when the tide subsided, he would go to the beach to pick up the starfish and throw them into the sea. One day, a man came along and saw him doing it. He was curious and asked:
man: "What are you doing?"
boy: "I'm picking the starfishes and throwing them into the ocean."
man: "Why do you do it?"
boy: "Cos if I don't, the starfish will die from lack of oxygen."
The man laughed. He looked around him and he could see the starfishes stretching for miles.
man: "There are so many starfishes on this beach. How are you going to save all of them?"
The boy picked up a starfish, and threw it into the ocean. And he replied with a smile : "I might not be able to save all of them, but to that one, I made a difference."
It's all about making a difference in someone's life. There may be thousands out there that need our help, and we may not be able to reach out to all of them, but to that particular someone that you saved, you made a difference in his life.
